Maui's Oatmeal Stout

Maui is a Labradoodle that is beautiful, rich and dark brown, just like our Oatmeal Stout.

We serve our Oatmeal stout on Nitrogen at Cheap Screw Brewery

Ingredients:

  • 9.4 lbs (4.26 kg) Maris Otter

  • 1 lb (.45 kg) Flaked Oats (do not mill)

  • .75 lb (.34 kg) British Chocolate Malt

  • .75 lb (.34 kg) Victory Malt

  • .5 lb (.23 kg) Caramel Malt Crystal 80L 

  • .5 lb (.23 kg) Roasted Barley

  • 2 oz (56.7 g) East Kent Golding (60 min)

  • 1 whirlfloc tablet

  • Wyeast No. 1098 British Ale

Final Gravity: 1.015

Directions:

 

Mash grains and 17.9 qts. (16.9 L) of strike water at 165°F (73.9C) for 60 minutes, Mash tun should be at 152°F (66.7°C) for 60 minutes. After 60 minutes add 4.1 qts. (3.88 L) at 170°F (76.7°C) into the mash tun, allow to sit for 10 minutes so the grain bed can settle. Drain mash tun and add second sparge water 13.8 qts. (13.06 L) at 170°F (76.7°C), allow to rest for 10 minutes and drain into brew kettle.  Once boiling has been achieved add hops add start the 60 minute boil timer. With 15 minutes remaining in the boil add whirlfloc tablet.  Chill to 70°F (21°C) and pitch yeast.
